Absolutely terrible experience with De Speelkribel. The school contacted us accusing us of forgetting our daughter’s lunch box, only to later admit that the lunch box had actually been inside the school the entire time because the staff misplaced it themselves, even though it had our daughter’s name clearly written on it. What makes this even worse is that my daughter was left sitting and doing nothing for around 20 minutes during lunch time while waiting for teachers to figure out where her lunch box was, leaving a small child confused, hungry, and ignored because of the school’s own mistake. Instead of properly checking first, the staff immediately assumed the parents were at fault, and this level of carelessness and poor organization is unacceptable for a kindergarten that is supposed to care for young children. Even more concerning, during this situation the staff gave food from another child to my daughter because they claimed her lunch box had been left at home, and shortly afterwards, my daughter developed chickenpox symptoms; while we cannot medically confirm the exact source, this incident raised serious concerns for us regarding hygiene, health safety, and the school’s decision-making when handling food belonging to other children. When I picked up my daughter, she was emotionally upset and told us she did not want to go back to school anymore, which was heartbreaking and infuriating as parents, so I immediately took her home so she could finally eat properly and feel safe again. The school later apologized after they finally found the lunch box in the wrong basket, but honestly this should never have happened in the first place, and blaming “misunderstandings” or staff absence does not change the fact that a child was negatively affected because of the school’s negligence. Very disappointing experience; parents deserve better communication, better supervision, and much more responsibility from a school entrusted with young children.
