Stayed at The Bru Bar & Hostel in Cork and was very happy with what I got for the price. The rooms were small but clean, with a modern enough bathroom. The breakfast was simple but good. The location is excellent — only about an 8-minute walk from the train station and around 15 minutes on foot into the city centre. Great value for money and I’d happily stay again.

The hostel has paid lockers for luggage, but some of our suitcases were too large, so staff said we could leave them in the back room after checkout. However, someone went through our bags, making this place unsafe. The staff member was helpful by calling the police, but afterward, no manager apologized or followed up. Be aware. The room quality was very poor, with moth bugs and mold on the ceiling just one meter from where I was sleeping—unacceptable so close to the beds. Check-in was unpleasant; when I asked for help with my 30kg suitcase to the second floor with no lift, the lady condescendingly smiled and refused to ask the unoccupied bar worker for assistance. I don’t expect a five-star hotel, but some customer service in a helpless situation would have been nice. Overall, I would definitely not stay again and cannot recommend it. If you do stay, take care of your belongings as Brú Bar is not safe.
